At Last

Well, Joseph finally came home from the hospital today. After being there for 2 days we were all really excited to get him home. I hope we never have to do that again. I can now really empathize with families that have sick children. We were lucky it was only for a short while. I can't imagine how hard it would be to be in the hospital for weeks or months. The doctors and nurses were wonderful. Joseph had all kinds of toys to keep him entertained. One of the ladies from pediatrics brought in a playschool car for him to drive around in. He loved it. We could even take him in the hallway with it as long as we took the I.V. pole with and put a mask on him.

Joseph still has a cough and will be on oral steroids for the next 3 days. We also have to give him nebulizer treatments of Albuterol as needed for a few days and Pulmicort everyday for the next few months. The pulmicort is for his asthma and keeps his airways from becoming inflammed. He was off the pulmicort for two months and I was hoping he could stay off....but I guess not. I'll do anything to keep him breathing though.

I'm greatful to all our family and friends that called and checked on us and prayed for Joseph. The doctor was amazed at how well and how quickly he responded to the treatments. Usually it takes a lot longer. Thanks so much.

The Results Are In.....

It's a GIRL!!!! I had my 20 week ultrasound today and we found out we are having another girl. I was kinda hoping for another boy to even things out a bit. I'm happy with what we got though, and girl names are easier to pick anyway. At least Joseph won't have to fight for the title of sweetest little boy ever. Speaking of Joseph, before I went to Sioux Falls for the ultrasound, I took JoJo to see Dr. Krell. He had been feeling poorly for the last 4 days and we finally decided it was time to see the doc. It turns out he has RSV and his oxygen levels were lower than normal. Plus he has asthma which makes it even worse on his lungs. Dr. Krell admitted him to the hospital in Vermillion. They had to hook him up to an I.V. and give him fluids, put him on oxygen and give albuterol treatments every few hours. As of right now he is still there and will be spending the night. I'm not sure when he will be coming home. The doc said that once his stats stay up he can be released. Sam is spending the night with him and I'll be with him tomorrow while Sam is in school. Bianca is soooo upset. We went to visit JoJo after we got back from Sioux Falls. When it was time to leave she cried and cried. She told me "I just love him so much and I don't like that he's sick and in the hospital". She is such a softy. Ava on the other hand said "everyone is crying but me"! Yep, she's a tuffy. Well, I'm going to relax and watch Medium on t.v. for a bit. I'll keep everyone updated.

Nada

So if you can believe it, I never feel like I have anything to say. It's always the same old stuff going on here in Vermillion. Maybe I have the idea of a blog all wrong. I keep thinking I can only post stuff that is super interesting. What I need to do is go back to December and post Bianca's baptism. First I need to pester Mandi about getting the pics to me for all of you to view.

Things are going well with me. I'm feeling better pregnancy wise and am getting more excited with each week that passes. I keep thinking that maybe I'm a bad person for not being ecstatic about this pregnancy, but maybe it's because it really crept up on me. NO more of the counting days method for me. It obviously didn't work. Anyway, my older brother had a baby on Jan. 19th up in Brookings. It's his 3rd baby but first boy. Seeing that new little baby got me more excited for my own to come. It's fun to anticipate what they will look like and what their personality will be. I'm hoping for another boy, just to even things out a bit. In the beginning of March I will find out what we are having. I'll be sure to post right away with that one. Well, I need to vacuum, scrape the snow off my van and pick Ava up from head start. See ya'll later.

Give me a break...

I know, I know, I'm the worst blogger on the planet. I just haven't felt like doing a whole lot during the last month. I guess it could have something to do with the fact that I'm PREGNANT! Yes you heard correct. We are expecting yet another little darling. It was quite unexpected and certainly not planned, but we are all excited. Right now I'm about 12 weeks along and am due on July 7, 2009. So.... cut me some slack, I'll try to do better on my blog.

3...2...1 Blast Off!

Last week our family went to Sioux Falls so Sam could attend a PT seminar. While we were there I took Bianca to the Washington Pavillion of Arts and Science. We had a really fun time. I had to talk Bianca into getting inside the space suit. She said it smelled bad in there. I guess when you get a couple hundred people going through each day, it could get stinky. I myself didn't notice any unusual odor. They have some really great activities there also. We found a game called "Mindball". Two opponets strap a band around their head that has sensors on it. They are supposed to read your brainwaves. A little metal ball is moved on a track by these brainwaves. The more relaxed you are the faster the ball moves. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but it seemed that all the kids were beating the parents. I think kids are just more relaxed and carefree. Another thing we had fun on was a simulation of a wheelchair race . I kicked Bianca's butt on that one so HA!
Next time, the whole family will have to go.
P.S. scroll down to see the newly added halloween pictures!

Anyone know a good dentist?

My mom gave us some ugly teeth for the kids to play with. Yes, I like to put them in too. The things are hilarious. I know my brother-in-law Brandon would have a good laugh with us.

The naked cowboy rides again!

I let Joseph take a shower with me today so he would stay out of trouble. He got out first and ran off. This is how I found him after I got out and dried off. It was pretty funny to see.
